About Us

Mission Statement
The University of Nevada Las Vegas Department of Police Services is dedicated to providing excellence in protection and service to the university community. As law enforcement officers, we shall continuously endeavor to ensure a safe and secure environment conducive to a positive social and educational process.

Vision Statement
The vision of the UNLV Department of Police Services is to become an exemplary model and recognized leader in higher education law enforcement by providing the public with quality police service and protection.

Community Policing
Our department subscribes to the community-policing philosophy, which guides our efforts in our interactions with the UNLV community and the Las Vegas community in order to identify and solve problems.

UNLV is home to approximately 2,000 on-campus residents. To strengthen the ties and build a partnership with the residential life faculty, staff, and residents, we have initiated the Dormitory Liaison Program, which assigns police officers to work closely with the university’s residential life staff to identify and solve problems that affect the residential life community. The dormitory liaison officers often attend floor meetings, hold and conduct training sessions, and also attend residential life events throughout the semester.
