Although typically defined as a "commuter campus," UNLV is home to approximately 2,000 residents. Students live in one of the 4 main residential life facilities located on the campus. To strengthen the ties and build a partnership with the residential life faculty, staff, and residents, the UNLV Police Department began the Dormitory Liaison Program several years ago. The main premise of this program involves identifying particular Police Officers and then assigning them to work closely with the University Residential Life Staff to identify and solve problems that affect the residential life community. Additionally, these Dormitory Liaison Officers often attend floor meetings, hold and conduct training sessions, and also attend Residential Life functions throughout the semester.
