Purpose

The intended purpose for the UNLVPD "Enduro" program following the initial Grant period is as an enhancement to the Bicycle Patrol. The program is staffed with qualified Bike Officers having already been on Bike Patrol for an amount of time determined by the Director of UNLVPD or a Designee. The program is used in the same operating fashion as the bike patrol but during designated times when a slightly higher degree of mobility and speed are needed. Examples may be the pedestrian crosswalk on Maryland Parkway, a Stadium event, the parking lots of the UNLV campus, some interior areas of campus, and; upon authorization, in patrolling off campus properties such as Rainbow Gardens.
