The UNLV Human Resources Department receives applications for the position of University Police Officer I, and University Police Officer II. Please click on the links listed below to view the job announcement for each position, and read carefully before applying:

University Police Officer II

To apply, go to NVAPPS and type "university police officer" into the search phase. Then click on the appropriate position, and apply online. If you have any questions regarding applying online, contact Human Resources at 702-895-3504.

UNLV Human Resources will contact applicants when the next Written Examination/Physical Agility Test is scheduled.

Employment with the UNLV Police department is conditional upon successful completion of the following:

  • Background Investigation
  • Written Examination (UPOI applicants)
  • Physical Agility Test
  • Polygraph Examination
  • Medical Examination
  • Drug Screening Test
  • Oral Board
  • Any other tests or interviews required by this agency

The aforementioned tests will be administered in a manner selected by the UNLV Police Department. Successful completion of this process does not guarantee employment with the UNLV Police Department, only that successful applicants will be considered for positions as they become available.

Reserve Police Officer

Lt. Dustin Olson

The UNLV Police Department receives applications for the position of Police Reserve Officer for those that desire a career as a police officer and from current police officers wishing to work part-time at special events that are conducted on campus.

Reserve officers are paid while working various special events that are scheduled on university properties during the year.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Possession of a valid Nevada Drivers License
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Nevada Resident
  • No Felony convictions

AND A

  • Current Nevada P.O.S.T. Category One Certificate

Hiring Process:

  • Complete a State of Nevada Application
  • Extensive and thorough background/criminal history check
  • Pre-employment interview
  • Oral Board
  • Drug Test

Minimium Requirements to maintain Reserve Officer status:

  • Must complete at least 24 hours of training yearly (not paid)
  • Must work at least six special events every six months (paid)

Starting Pay $14.00 per hour
