police vehicleThe University Police Department, located at 851 E. Tropicana and 850 E. Harmon Avenue near the Lied Library, provides service and protection to the campus community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The 38 person force of commissioned police officers and 17 person Reserve Force have full arrest powers and are graduates of the State of Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training Police (POST) Academy.

All are trained in emergency response procedures, basic first aid, automatic external defibrillation (AED), and firearms proficiency, and are provided continuing training annually to keep their current skill levels and upgrade their skills.

UNLV Police BadgeThe Department enforces Federal, State and County laws and ordinances as well as University regulations. All criminal incidents are investigated and prosecuted. The University Police Department maintains a cooperative relationship with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The University Police Department is a member of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

The department receives its dispatching and Emergency 911 from the UNLV Department of Public Safety Communications Division, which is a state of the art communications facility operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The University Police is a pro-active, service-oriented agency trained to respond to the needs of the community. The department is staffed and equipped to deliver professional, personalized protection, with pride, sensitivity, and integrity.
